Getting there.....

Right, I have a completed Queensland college of teaching registration, a nearly finished tracer application with the Australian government and a 12 month working holiday visa ready to go. The system regarding state school is very much you will teach where you are told within the Queensland boundaries, dependent on where you are needed. Had one possible job come up this week but I felt that leaving the house at half 5 and not returning until half 7 in the evening was a little bit of an excessive commute, even for me!But I am assured by many parties that more jobs will come up in Brisbane in the coming weeks, so although it is not looking like I will have a job sorted before I get out there, I am confident that I will be able to get one pretty sharpish after arriving. Here's hoping anyway!
After a thorough look through many different institutions sites and propaganda, it is clear that the educational values and systems seem to be not very far removed from my own and in turn the UK's values, which is encouraging! The main themes of the curriculum are similar although, ideally for me, there seems to be a slightly larger focus on the human Geography aspect of learning and the application of relevant material that will directly affect the pupils' lives. This extends to continued development of Australia's positioning with Pacific islands and the interactions between the two parties, an area that I find fascinating and one that my previous travelling will stand me in good stead for.
All in all, a good week of preparation for the big move!
